The Company is lead by founder, Simon Mathews

Having learnt to fly in 1976 and following a successful career in management and sales within the transport and logistics sector, Simon transitioned into aviation, building extensive operational experience as a charter pilot, flight instructor and, in corporate, aeromedical, demonstration and remote area flying operations. His aviation sales background includes roles with leading manufacturers Cessna and Daher, his flying career includes service with the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Simon’s work has taken him to Papua New Guinea, the United States, the Pacific, Europe, and Asia. Together with substantial experience throughout regional and remote Australia. He has undertaken notable ferry flights, including aircraft deliveries from Europe and a Pacific crossing flying the Cessna Grand Caravan.

He currently holds a Commercial Pilot Licence, Flight Instructor and Flight Examiner ratings. Simon serves as Head of Operations for SM Aviation Pty Ltd, supporting its Part 141 flight training operations and as CEO and Head of Flying for Red River Aviation Pty Ltd operating under Part 135/119 certification as a commercial air transport provider.
